Bank Governor's Son Hits Back: Rejects Accusations, Considers Legal Action

Tevin Sithanen, the son of the Governor of the Bank of Mauritius – Rama Sithanen, has flatly denied “malicious” accusations made against him by Gérard Sanspeur, the former deputy governor of the central bank.

In a press release issued on Saturday, September 6, Tevin Sithanen rejected Sanspeur’s claims that he had interfered in the internal affairs of the central bank.

Sanspeur’s allegations were made during a press conference on August 29.

Tevin Sithanen stated that any attempt to link him to the disputes between Sanspeur and his former employer or the Mauritian government was made in “bad faith.”

He feels the allegations are a serious attack on his integrity, honour, and reputation.

The statement concluded with Mr. Sithanen reserving all of his rights, including the right to pursue legal action.
