MOL Charitable Trust Launches 5th Funding Round for Environmental Projects
Generous grants of up to Rs 1 million are now available for Mauritian initiatives focused on environmental protection and sustainable development, as the MOL Charitable Trust launches its fifth call for projects. This new funding round is designed to support non-profit organizations working on a wide range of issues, from protecting mangrove forests and coral reefs to promoting social well-being and advancing renewable energy research.
Fifth Grant Round Announced
In a statement, the MCT confirmed that non-profit organisations registered in Mauritius for at least two years are eligible to apply for the funding.
The grants, capped at Rs 1 million per project, will support initiatives for up to 12 months.
This fifth call for projects, known as CFP5, follows four previous rounds that have funded over 50 social and environmental projects since the trust’s founding in 2021.
Yasuo Suzuki, Chairman of the MOL Charitable Trust, said the new initiative is a step towards “encouraging even more initiatives aimed at protecting our environment and sustainable social development, particularly in the South-East region.”
He noted that the trust remains “open to projects from all regions of Mauritius.”
Focus Areas for Funding
The trust’s ten priority objectives, inspired by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, guide the selection process. Projects must align with at least one of these goals. Key areas of focus include:

- Preserving and restoring cultural heritage sites.
- Economic & Social Development:
- Supporting the fishing and tourism industries.
- Empowering communities through education and social welfare.
- Innovation & Infrastructure:
