18 Families in Bambous Finally Get Water and Electricity After 10-Year Wait
Eighteen families in Bambous, Mauritius, have finally been connected to water and electricity after living without these essential services for over a decade. The long-awaited development came after Minister Patrick Assirvaden personally intervened, describing the situation as “unacceptable.”
Minister Assirvaden visited the families at Morcellement Limit Avenue on Wednesday, September 3, to personally verify that the new connections were operational.
He stated it was “inconceivable that in 2025 entire families are still forced to live without running water or electricity.”
Ministerial Intervention and Relief for Residents
The minister, who was informed of the issue last July, confirmed the works were carried out professionally and on time to resolve a problem that should never have lasted so long.
For the eighteen households, the new connections will significantly transform their daily lives.
The availability of water and electricity is not only a basic comfort but also crucial for children’s education, health, and the overall dignity of the residents.
Future Commitments
Minister Assirvaden pledged that his ministry will continue to ensure such situations do not happen again and that access to essential services remains a top priority.
His visit was a follow-up to ensure that the commitments made were being honoured.
