Beau-Bassin Nursery Under Scrutiny Following Child Abuse Allegations

Police and child protection authorities are investigating a nursery in Beau-Bassin after a mother claimed her two children, including one with autism, were allegedly mistreated. The mother, who has a one-year-old and a two-year-old enrolled at the facility, alleges her older child with autism was the victim of abuse.

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Protection launched the investigation after meeting with the mother last Thursday, 14th August, to hear her grievances.

Subsequently, the ministry prompted police to open their own inquiry into the claims. The nursery is now under strict surveillance as authorities await the results of their probe.

Among the accusations, the mother highlighted the presence of a Malagasy employee allegedly working without a permit.

The ministry stated that these details were not on official records, raising further concerns about the administrative status of the staff.

The ministry has confirmed it’s taking the matter very seriously and that a thorough investigation is underway to shed light on the allegations.
