Visa Picks Mauritian IPT Africa as 1st Fintech
The B2B cross-border payments firm joins an elite group of 22 high-growth African startups selected for the 12-week initiative, backed by Visa and Plug and Play, to fast-track cutting-edge payment solutions. IPT Africa has become the first Mauritian company chosen for the Visa Accelerator Programme – Africa 2025, marking a major milestone for the island’s burgeoning fintech sector.
Selected from thousands of applicants across the continent, IPT Africa will gain exclusive access to Visa’s developer ecosystem, bespoke mentorship, and potential strategic investments.
The programme aims to scale transformative fintech innovations that can reshape Africa’s digital payments landscape.
“This is a proud moment for Mauritius,” said Mark O’Sullivan, CEO of IPT Africa. “Our inclusion signals that Mauritian innovation can compete at the highest level in Africa.
This accelerator will propel our mission to streamline and connect payments across the continent’s fastest-growing markets.”
The achievement underscores Mauritius’ rising status as a fintech hub, capable of producing export-ready digital finance solutions for Africa. Industry experts say IPT Africa’s success highlights the nation’s potential to nurture world-class fintech ventures with pan-African impact.
