Mauritius Telecom CEO Headlines Inaugural MIoD Leadership Forum
The Mauritius Institute of Directors (MIoD) has launched a groundbreaking new initiative, the MIoD Expert Series, designed to bring together governance and business leaders for high-level strategic discussions. The platform, which debuted on Thursday 7 August in collaboration with Mauritius Telecom, aims to facilitate direct dialogue between executives and industry experts in an intimate, interactive setting.
The inaugural session, themed “From Goodwill to Growth: Strategies for a Better Tomorrow,” drew around 30 directors, executives, and business leaders.
Veemal Gungadin, CEO of Mauritius Telecom—a founding member of MIoD—was the keynote speaker, sharing insights from his book Goodwill-Led Growth on fostering trust and human-centric leadership in modern governance.
A Break from Traditional Forums
Unlike conventional conferences, the MIoD Expert Series focuses on fostering bold ideas through direct, practitioner-led discussions.
Sheila Ujoodha, CEO of MIoD, described the initiative as a “strategic pause in our overloaded schedules,” aligning with the institute’s mission to promote enlightened corporate governance.
“This series creates a space to step outside the usual frameworks, question leadership approaches, and learn from those rethinking traditional models,” Ujoodha said.
“We are thrilled to launch this first edition with Mauritius Telecom, centred on leadership rooted in trust and sustainable impact.”
Human-Centric Leadership in Focus
Gungadin emphasised the role of goodwill and trust in driving long-term business success. “Modern leadership is no longer just about hitting targets—it’s about inspiring lasting change,” he said.
“At Mauritius Telecom, we believe in combining human values with technology, and this series is an opportunity to champion positive corporate culture.”
The MIoD Expert Series is set to continue with future editions, addressing evolving challenges in governance and leadership.
The initiative underscores the importance of human values in building resilient organisations amid rapid global change.
