Heads Up: 4-Meter Waves Threaten Mauritius & Nearby Islands

The Meteorological Station in Vacoas issued a strong swell warning at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 31. The warning is valid until 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 2.

The alert warns that powerful waves originating from the southern sector are affecting the seas around Mauritius, Rodrigues, Agalega, and Saint-Brandon.

Sea conditions will remain very rough, with wave heights reaching approximately 4 meters. During high tides, waves could break onto low-lying coastal areas.

The Meteorological Service advises fishermen, boaters, and the public to avoid going to sea and stay away from beaches until the warning is lifted.
