SAA Launches 3-Weekly Cape Town–Mauritius Flights Starting December 9
South African Airways (SAA) is launching its first direct flight between Cape Town and Mauritius, starting December 9, 2025. This new route marks a key expansion of SAA’s network, improving travel options for passengers in the Western Cape. The move reflects SAA’s ongoing effort to strengthen connectivity, offer more choices to customers, and support growth.
SAA CEO Professor John Lamola said, “Connecting Cape Town with Mauritius is a goal we’ve worked hard to achieve.
This route helps promote leisure travel in the region and supports tourism goals for both South Africa and Mauritius.
Passengers can expect SAA’s warm hospitality and high-quality service on every flight.”
Initially, the route will have three flights each week, flying on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
The outbound flight departs Cape Town at 9:25 a.m. and arrives in Mauritius at 4:30 p.m., taking about five hours.
The return flight departs Mauritius at 5:20 p.m. and reaches Cape Town at 9:30 p.m.
Between mid-January and mid-March 2026, the service will reduce to twice weekly, based on seasonal demand.
SAA’s Chief Commercial Officer Tebogo Tsimane explained that the flight schedule was carefully planned in consultation with South African tour operators to match traveler preferences and holiday planning, offering more flexibility and convenience for passengers.
