Anticyclone Approaching Mauritius Drops Temperatures by 5-10°C; Wind & Rain Persist
A powerful high-pressure system is moving close to our region from the southwest, bringing windier and cooler weather, according to the meteorological station’s bulletin issued Monday 28th July.
Clouds coming from the east caused showers during the day, mainly in the eastern regions and the central plateau. Temporary cloud development occurred in the north and east, accompanied by localized showers.
During the night, the sky will gradually become more overcast with intermittent rain, especially in the southern half of the island and the highland areas. Some fog patches are also forecasted in certain places.
Temperatures will range from 19°C to 22°C on the central plateau and from 25°C to 27°C along the coast.
The minimum temperatures will be between 14°C and 16°C in the highlands and 18°C to 20°C on the coast.
Winds, which are light and variable during the day, will strengthen overnight, blowing from the southeast at about 25 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 50 km/h.
Sea conditions will become rough beyond the reefs and are expected to grow stronger overnight, with waves from the southwest reaching 2.5 meters.
Therefore, it is strongly advised not to venture beyond the reef for sea outings.
