Hijab Wearing Dismissals: Sanctions Under Consideration Against ENSAfrica Mauritius

The Council of Ministers has expressed concern over a case reported to the Ministry of Labour and Industrial Relations by two former employees of the law firm ENSAfrica Mauritius. The women claim they were fired for wearing the hijab at work.

The case has been brought before the Employment Relations Tribunal, which will decide whether the women should be reinstated.

Authorities are also considering potential actions against the law firm.

Additionally, discussions are underway to propose amendments to relevant legislation to better address similar cases in the future.
