Mauritius and UK Deepen Ties: 4 Key Cooperation Areas Announced
Dr. Navin Ramgoolam, Prime Minister of Mauritius, received British High Commissioner Paul Brummell on Thursday 24th July. Brummell was accompanied by Commodore Saunders, the UK’s non-resident defense adviser for Mauritius. The meeting took place at the Treasury building in Port Louis.
During the visit, the High Commissioner congratulated the Prime Minister on signing the “historic” agreement concerning the Chagos Archipelago in May.
The two leaders discussed various initiatives outlined in the treaty and the strategic partnership between Mauritius and the United Kingdom.
These initiatives include cooperation in maritime security, climate finance, combating illicit financial flows, and strengthening institutional frameworks.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to reaffirm their commitment to deepen cooperation in several key sectors.
