MRA Targets 82 Employers Over Unpaid Social Security for 1,634 Employees
The Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) is pursuing legal cases against 82 employers for unpaid Social Security Contributions (CSG). Between January and July 22, 2025, the MRA received 1,634 reports from workers missing their CSG benefits due to employer non-compliance.
Among these complaints, 22 involve employees from Rodrigues, linked to 19 employers, according to Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, who spoke in Parliament on July 22.
Out of the 1,634 complaints, the MRA has already resolved 1,456 cases, including 16 from Rodrigues.
The authority has paid the CSG benefits to 1,444 employees, and will complete payments to the remaining employees within this week.
For the remaining 178 employees — including 6 from Rodrigues — the MRA is taking legal steps to pursue prosecution against the 82 employers involved.
