Drivers, Beware! New 5 Infractions, Fines Start September 1st !

Starting September 1, 2025, the Roads Act will implement a Fixed Penalty Notice system. This was announced during a Cabinet meeting on Friday, July 18. The new system aims to:

• Deter repeat offenders by introducing additional sanctions.
• Make the judicial process more efficient and less costly.
• Redirect minor violations away from traditional courts.
• Reduce lengthy procedures by allowing immediate fines, helping to modernize justice administration.

The system will target infractions such as:

• Illegal occupation of roads or sidewalks by street vendors.
• Unauthorized discharge of rainwater or wastewater from private properties onto public roads.
• Illicit storage of materials on sidewalks and roads.
• Illegal outdoor advertising (flyposting).
• Unauthorized access to certain roads or facilities.

The amount of the fines has not yet been disclosed.
