Mauritius and China Boost Collaboration to Transform Skills & Administrative Success
Mauritius and China are set to deepen their cooperation in capacity building, training, and integrating Artificial Intelligence into the public sector. This commitment was discussed during a meeting between China’s ambassador to Mauritius, Dr. Huang Shifang, and Mauritius’s Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, Mr. Lutchmanah Pentiah, in Port Louis on 15th July 2025.
Minister Pentiah thanked China for its ongoing support, noting that over the past few years, more than 6,000 public officers have participated in training programs, including many who traveled to China for specialized courses.
In the first half of this year alone, 175 officers have already been trained through these initiatives.
He emphasized the importance of creating targeted training programs aligned with the government’s administrative reform goals.
The minister also said that proposals for next year’s courses would be submitted to the Chinese ambassador’s office within 24 hours, with plans to train between 100 and 200 officers in key reform areas.
Dr. Huang described the meeting as very productive, especially regarding capacity building and future training plans.
She reiterated China’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Mauritius and working together to achieve more milestones in the coming years.
