Meet 22-Year-Old Harshitaa: 3.6 Million Likes, Fashionista & Beauty Queen

Harshitaa Nunkoo, second runner-up at Miss Planet International Mauritius, has become a well-known TikTok creator. At 22 years old, she has gained 3.6 million likes on the platform. She lives in the north of Mauritius and made her own swimsuit for the recent beauty pageant, held on June 13 at RM Garden in Trianon.

During the competition, contestants walked in evening gowns, but Harshitaa chose to design her own dress with help from her mother and grandmother.

It took her three weeks to create the gown. She said, “One day, I was watching a movie and suddenly visualized what my dress could look like. I sketched it and bought the materials. The final result exceeded our expectations.” She also designed the swimsuit she wore during another part of the contest.

Harshitaa sees beauty pageants as opportunities to showcase her fashion talent. This was her second contest; last year, she was first runner-up at an event organized by Women of Wonders. She is currently studying marketing.

Recently, she launched her first haute couture collection under the brand name “Iriina,” a name she originally used for her vlog while visiting Paris, where she also attended a Taylor Swift concert.

She started creating content on Musical.ly at age 15, but after experiencing bullying, she deleted her account.

When TikTok replaced Musical.ly, she resumed posting during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2021 for fun.

Her videos quickly gained views and followers, turning TikTok into a potential income source.

She now uses her TikTok as a digital portfolio to showcase her fashion skills and has collaborated with brands.

Harshitaa has also faced online negativity. Recently, she posted a video suggesting an original way to eat noodles, which some TikTok viewers disliked.

However, on LinkedIn, many professionals appreciated the engagement and offered insightful feedback.

In addition to her TikTok career, Harshitaa is taking sewing classes and dreams of opening her own fashion boutique someday.
