Mauritius Weather Warning: 70 km/h Winds and 4-Meter Waves

Mauritius is currently under the influence of a strong anticyclone, bringing gusty winds and high waves. A warning for rough seas remains in effect until 10:00 AM this Sunday, July 13.

Clouds from the east are affecting local weather. The powerful anticyclone south of the Mascarene Islands is causing windy conditions across the region, according to the Vacoas weather station.

Expect a cloudy start to the day with intermittent rain mainly on the east, south, and central plateau.

Some fog patches are also possible in certain areas. The weather should improve, becoming mostly sunny, though occasional showers are still possible, especially in higher areas.

Throughout the night, clouds will linger, with partly cloudy skies and occasional light rain on windward slopes and highlands.

Temperatures will range from 14-16°C in the highlands to 18-20°C along the coast. Daytime highs are expected to be between 20-22°C on the central plateau and 24-26°C on the coastal regions.

Winds from the east-southeast will blow at around 30 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 70 km/h in exposed areas.

Residents are advised to exercise caution, particularly when working at heights or driving on exposed roads.

The sea will be very rough beyond the reefs, with waves reaching up to 4 meters.

These large waves could break onto the coast, especially during high tide on the west and south coasts.

It is strongly advised that fishermen, boaters, and beachgoers avoid going to sea or beaches in the affected areas for safety reasons.
