Trou-d’Eau-Douce: 3 Arrested in Rs 8,000 Fake Currency Scam

Police have dismantled a fake currency operation in the eastern part of the country. Three men from Trou-d’Eau-Douce were arrested in connection with the case. The suspects reportedly visited a local shop on June 26 and 27, paying for their purchases with counterfeit 1,000-rupee notes.
One of the suspects owed the shop owner Rs 8,000 and is said to have repaid part of his debt using the fake bills.
The fraud was only discovered on Monday 30th June, when the shop owner’s son checked the bills with a counterfeit currency detector.
The three men are scheduled to appear in court on Friday, 4th July.
