300 Experts Discuss Mauritius Real Estate Future at API Forum

On June 26, over 300 real estate professionals gathered at the InterContinental Hotel in Balaclava for the third edition of the API Mauritius forum. Organized by API Events, the event focused on the theme “A Resilient Dawn” and aimed to explore ongoing changes in the sector and promote dialogue among industry stakeholders.
Participants included investors, developers, representatives from financial institutions, consulting firms, pension fund managers, and public officials from Mauritius and several African countries.

The forum addressed how economic, technological, and environmental shifts are impacting real estate.
Key topics discussed included co-development partnerships, the use of artificial intelligence in property management, evolving housing models, and prospects for green finance.
Recent budget measures and their effects on the industry were also covered.
Special sessions focused on the hotel, residential, and commercial sectors. Discussions explored mixed-use and intergenerational projects, urban regeneration, and Mauritius’s appeal to foreign investors.
An exchange between Sydney Pierre, Junior Minister of Tourism, and sector expert Kevin Teeroovengadum highlighted upcoming developments in tourism, including factors affecting destination attractiveness and planned adjustments in hotel offerings.
The program also featured presentations on the African real estate market and innovative investment approaches in logistics, student housing, and green bonds.
Panel discussions examined issues related to sustainable growth toward 2040, urban planning, artificial intelligence’s impact on the value chain, and how Middle Eastern geopolitical tensions could influence investment flows into Mauritius’s real estate and hospitality sectors.
