Fire at the Social Security Ministry HQ: Damage Assessment Underway

On Wednesday, July 2, the Ministry of Social Integration, Social Security, and National Solidarity issued a statement about a fire that occurred on June 30. The ministry said they are currently assessing the damage caused by the fire.
The fire broke out on the 10th floor of the Renganaden Seeneevassen building in Port-Louis. Several floors of this building house the Social Security and National Solidarity divisions.
Authorities, including the police and fire services, are investigating the incident.
The ministry expressed gratitude to the firefighters, police, and others involved for their quick response, which helped contain the fire swiftly.
No one was injured in the fire. However, several documents were destroyed. Police are considering the possibility that the fire was set intentionally. The damage assessment is ongoing.
