9-Year-Old Girl Identifies Kidnapper in Port Louis Case

On June 26, a 9-year-old girl formally identified Dantay Chutteeya, 58, as the man who abducted her after school. The identification took place in the presence of the girl’s mother. Afterward, the girl told investigators the different places where Chutteeya had taken her that day.

Chutteeya remains in police custody and has confessed to the crime.

He admitted to approaching the girl outside a school in the capital after classes ended, claiming her father had sent him to pick her up.

Trusting him, the girl got into Chutteeya’s car. However, she soon realized they were not heading home and started to scream.

Under pressure, Chutteeya abandoned her on Rue Royale in Port Louis.

Authorities say Chutteeya is currently out on bail for another kidnapping case from May, which took place in Baie-du-Tombeau.
