Public Sector CERT-MU Wins Rs 75,000 Award for Cybersecurity Innovation
The Computer Emergency Response Team of Mauritius (CERT-MU), under the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, has received the 2025 National Innovator Hall of Fame Award in the public sector. This honor was awarded for its platform, MAUCORS+, an improved online system for reporting cybercrime in Mauritius.
This national recognition highlights the government’s commitment to making Mauritius a safer and more digitally resilient country through local innovation.
The award was presented by the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC), which established the National Innovator Hall of Fame to honor outstanding local innovations that promote development, creativity, and a strong culture of innovation—especially among young people.
CERT-MU’s nomination in the “Best National Innovator – Public Organizations” category demonstrates how innovation can effectively address digital threats in the public sector.
After being selected in May 2025 and delivering a successful pitch at the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), MAUCORS+ won the award.
The team received Rs 75,000 during the ceremony held last Friday, 27th June, at the Ravenala Attitude Hotel in Balaclava.
MAUCORS+ has revolutionized how cybercrimes are reported and monitored in Mauritius. The platform allows for faster detection, increased citizen involvement, and smarter analysis of cyber threats.
