Ticketbox.mu Launches 2024 Flight Bookings, Booking Over Rs 55 Million

Mauritius — Ticketbox.mu now offers online flight booking for both locals and foreigners. The platform, established in 2018, recently partnered with a South African company specializing in airline ticket sales. This collaboration allows Ticketbox.mu to expand its services and provide a secure, easy way for users to search, compare, and reserve flights for holidays or business trips.
This new feature positions Ticketbox.mu as a comprehensive one-stop shop for travel, entertainment, and leisure activities.
Ajay Deora, CEO and co-founder, explained, “Our partnership with the South African ticketing firm enhances our offerings and strengthens our leadership in online booking and electronic ticketing in Mauritius. It’s also part of our strategy to grow beyond Mauritius and become an international reference.”

Since its launch, Ticketbox.mu has experienced rapid growth. Starting modestly in 2019 with electronic ticketing and concert organization featuring local and international artists, the company paused during COVID-19.
In 2022, it expanded its platform to include over 100 hotels, allowing users to book accommodations directly.
Over four years, the number of overnight stays booked through Ticketbox.mu increased from 400 to 2,274, generating more than Rs 55 million in sales so far in 2024.
In addition to flights and hotels, the platform now hosts service providers in food, health, wellness, and other leisure activities. Since June, both Mauritians and visitors can reserve airline tickets via Ticketbox.mu.
Deora, who has extensive international experience in tech, e-commerce, and marketing, emphasizes the platform’s goal:
“We aim to make life easier for Mauritians by centralizing their leisure, travel, and relaxation needs on a single, accessible, and secure platform.”
Today, users can book everything from hotel stays and day packages to concert tickets and wellness activities.
Ticketbox.mu’s success stems from its investment in innovative technology, strategic partnerships, and a dedicated team of around 30 professionals.
The company draws inspiration from leading online booking platforms like Booking.com, Agoda, and TripAdvisor to ensure a high-quality, secure customer experience.
It also collaborates with hoteliers, restaurateurs, tour operators, and event organizers, thanking them for their ongoing support.
The platform partners with major financial institutions such as Absa, Visa, Mastercard, MCB (Juice), my.t money, Emtel (Blink), and Peach Payments to guarantee secure payments.
Looking ahead, Deora has announced plans to introduce new services and form a strategic partnership with a local bank by year’s end.
In addition to concerts, Ticketbox.mu organizes corporate events like team-building activities and offers personalized gift cards that don’t expire.
The company also runs a customer rewards program, allowing clients to earn points for discounts on future purchases.
