CIEL Group announced on July 1 that Jean-Pierre Dalais has been appointed as the new chairman of its board, effective immediately. He takes over from Arnaud Dalais, who has served as chairman for the past 11 years and will remain on the board as a non-executive director.

Arnaud Dalais has been with the group since 1977.

Jean-Pierre Dalais previously served as CEO of CIEL from 2017 to 2024 and was named vice-chairman of the board earlier this year.

In a statement, Arnaud Dalais praised the team’s efforts and expressed confidence in his successor’s ability to continue developing the company.

“It’s time to pass the baton to Jean-Pierre. I wish him success in his new role,” he said.

Founded in 1912, CIEL Group is listed on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius (SEM). It operates in more than 10 countries across Africa and Asia, with activities in six sectors: agriculture, finance, healthcare, hospitality, real estate, and textiles.

The group employs 37,500 people and reported annual revenue of approximately Rs 35.2 billion as of June 30, 2024.
