Mauritius Offers 5 Scholarships for Students with Disabilities

The Ministry of Education has announced a call for applications for the 2025/2026 academic year to support students with disabilities. This program aims to promote equal opportunities and improve access to higher education in Mauritius.

A total of five scholarships will be awarded. These cover undergraduate university studies, vocational training, and technical and professional education (TVET).

Courses must be accredited and can be full-time, part-time, or distance learning. Eligible institutions are registered with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) or the Mauritius Qualifications Authority (MQA).

Applicants must meet specific criteria:

  • Be enrolled in their first year of study
  • Be under 30 years old at the application deadline
  • Not currently receiving other financial aid or scholarships
  • Provide medical proof of their disability, issued by a public or private healthcare institution, with official letterhead and stamp

The Scholarship

Each scholar can pursue only one program through this support. The scholarship covers tuition fees and provides a monthly allowance of Rs 7,500, up to a maximum of Rs 400,000 per year.

Application forms are available at the Ministry of Education reception, located on the ground floor of MITD House in Pont Fer, Phoenix, or can be downloaded from the website: https://education.govmu.org. Completed forms must be submitted by Friday, August 1, 2025.
