Weather forecast: Strong Wave Warning in Effect

A warning for high waves is in place around Mauritius. A weak anticyclone south of the Mascarene Islands is causing light to moderate easterly winds in the region, according to the latest weather bulletin issued on Tuesday, June 24.

The weather will be mainly clear this morning and afternoon. Temperatures will reach between 21°C and 24°C on the central plateau and between 26°C and 29°C along the coast.

Tonight, the sky will be partly cloudy with occasional light rain in the highland areas.

Minimum temperatures will range from 15°C to 17°C in elevated regions and from 19°C to 21°C along the coast. Winds will blow from the east-southeast at 10 to 20 km/h.

Sea conditions are very rough beyond the reefs, with southwest swells and waves around 4 meters high.

These waves could affect lagoons and break onto low-lying western and southern coasts, especially during high tides.

Boating and swimming are strongly discouraged, particularly during high tides. The waves are expected to gradually decrease in strength during the afternoon.

Tides:

  • High tides: 1:03 p.m. today and 12:05 a.m. tomorrow
  • Low tides: 6:16 a.m. and 6:41 p.m.

Sunrise is at 6:44 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:40 p.m.
