Rs194 Million Cannabis Seized: 8 Foreigners Arrested at Mauritius Airport

Eight foreign passengers, including a seven-year-old child, were arrested in Mauritius on Sunday, 22nd June, after authorities seized 161.9 kilograms of cannabis valued at approximately Rs 194.2 million.
The drugs were found in their luggage during a joint operation by the Customs Anti-Narcotics Section (CANS) and the Anti-Drug & Smuggling Unit (ADSU) at the airport, upon their arrival on a British Airways flight from Gatwick, London.
The investigation is led by Superintendent Ghoora, Assistant Superintendent Goinden, and Chief Inspector Doss, all from the ADSU at the airport. The eight passengers appeared in court in Mahébourg on Monday June 23rd.
