On Friday, June 20, the Prime Minister’s office responded to a letter sent by Anil Kokil, CEO of Côte d’Or International Racecourse and Entertainment Complex Ltd (COIREC), to the police commissioner. In the letter, dated June 19, 2025, Kokil stated that COIREC had not authorized a public event scheduled for Saturday, June 21, at the Champ de Mars.

The government clarified that Kokil’s decision was made unilaterally, without prior approval from the company’s board of directors.

The Prime Minister and his government strongly dissociate themselves from this decision, calling it unacceptable, and advised the police commissioner not to heed it.

The COIREC board has ordered Kokil to immediately inform authorities that the letter is null and void.

The government also announced that steps are being taken to terminate Kokil’s contract immediately.
