Rs38 Million Cannabis Seized at Plaisance, 2 Americans Detained

On Sunday, June 15, two American men were detained after arriving at Plaisance Airport. Customs officers and the Anti-Drug & Smuggling Unit (ADSU) conducted a joint inspection when the men landed.
One suspect, Alan Cook, was found with 30 packages of cannabis weighing 16.2 kilograms.
The other, Patrick Ryan Courtney, carried 29 packages totaling 15.66 kilograms. The total street value of the seized drugs is estimated at Rs 38.2 million.
Authorities attempted a controlled delivery to trace their local contacts but were unsuccessful. The two men are now in police custody.
The investigation is led by Superintendent Ghoora, Assistant Superintendent Goinden, and Chief Inspector Doss of the airport’s anti-drug unit.
