Global March for Gaza: Israeli Army Seizes Passports of 3 Mauritian Activists

Three Lalit activists—Ragini Kistnasamy, Alain Ah Vee, and Aly Hossenbocus—who traveled to join the Global March Together in solidarity with Gaza, are confirmed safe after Israeli forces seized their passports near the Rafah border on Saturday.
Lindsey Collen, a leader of the Mauritian political organization, confirmed the group’s safety but noted complications due to rising tensions between Israel and Iran. “They are waiting for a flight, but the situation is difficult right now,” Collen said. “We are in contact. They are secure in their hotel, unharmed. Flights remain disrupted—some airports are open, but there are currently no connections to the Middle East. Several flights have been canceled until August.”
The planned march, aimed at raising global awareness, was disrupted by escalating regional instability. “Negotiations are ongoing to resolve the situation,” Collen added.
Humanitarian Crisis at the Border
Hundreds of aid trucks carrying food and essential supplies have been stranded for days near the border. “The Israeli military has blocked access by establishing the so-called Philadelphi Corridor, cutting off all entry to Gaza,” Collen explained. The three activists now await further instructions from the NGO coordinating the campaign.
Despite being unable to cross, Collen emphasized the mission’s impact: “The world has been alerted. People now know what is happening at this border and the tragedy unfolding in Gaza.” She declared the effort a success, stating, “We have helped break the silence on the situation in this Israeli-controlled region.”
Call for Global Action
Collen urged international mobilization: “The global working class must raise its voice. We must clearly oppose the genocide in Gaza—press governments to take a firm stance against Israel, sever diplomatic ties, ban Israeli tourists with military or reserve backgrounds, and enforce strong punitive measures.”
As tensions persist, the activists’ plight highlights both the humanitarian blockade and the challenges faced by solidarity movements in conflict zones.
