Touria Prayag Appointed to the National Human Rights Commission

A seasoned journalist and former editor-in-chief of Weekly magazine, Touria Prayag has been appointed to serve a four-year term at the NHRC, marking a new chapter in her distinguished career.
Prayag is also the author of 2 books, namely:
“Provisional Charges – The Untold Stories” and “A to Z: An Encyclopaedia of Scandals in Paradise,” detailing scandals that took place in Mauritius under Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth’s government.
However, her appointment has faced opposition from opposition leader Joe Lesjongard.
He criticized the decision, citing that Prayag’s husband was appointed as chairman of the SICOM board, raising concerns about potential conflicts of interest.
