On June 12, French President Emmanuel Macron met with Mauritian Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam in Paris. Macron praised Navin Ramgoolam as a trusted partner who took action.

He highlighted the importance of Ramgoolam’s presence at the United Nations Ocean Conference 2025 (UNOC3) in Nice, noting that Mauritius was among the first countries worldwide to ratify a key treaty to protect the high seas.

Macron said Mauritius played a significant role in the success of the conference and that 60 countries ratified the treaty on the same day.

Macron also announced he will visit Mauritius in the coming months, expressing enthusiasm for the trip.

During their talks, they discussed bilateral cooperation, including efforts to combat trafficking, improve security, promote economic growth, and develop education.

Ramgoolam mentioned that Macron plans to support Mauritius’s technical training programs, especially for senior technicians, through the partnership between MCCI Business School and Réunion’s academic institutions.

Ramgoolam also criticized his predecessor for missing two important conferences, emphasizing the significance of this event.
