Ayman Peeroo runs Chickadee Creative Studio, a business that offers engaging educational tools for kids. Her humble approach and experience as both a teacher and mother inspired her to start this venture. The studio creates handcrafted, colorful learning materials designed to strengthen the bond between parents and children. Each product is carefully made, with hand-cut details and thoughtfully chosen colors.

Ayman’s warm smile welcomes children into her educational space, reflecting her passion. She says motherhood changed her perspective:

“I didn’t expect it to touch my heart so deeply. A Mother’s heart is different. It’s about becoming the best version of yourself and giving the best to your child.”

While raising her own children, Ayman Peeroo found fulfillment working with other kids. Her teaching background gradually led her to develop Chickadee Creative Studio, blending her love of learning, teaching joy, and positivity.

The studio’s name has a special story. It originated from her nephew’s nickname for her unborn baby: “bébé mésange,” or little bird.

She discovered that the blue tit, a small bird known for its strong personality, symbolized children perfectly. The name pays tribute to her daughter, her nephew, and all children.

Ayman’s focus is on playful, educational activities for children, along with some products for babies.

Her offerings include visual stimulation cards for newborns, which are important since infants see only contrasting black and white shapes in their first three months.

Her product range features colorful flashcards with alphabets and numbers illustrated, reward charts, potty training trackers, lists of the top 100 foods for babies, reusable alphabet and number tracing books, and sensory mats for developing fine motor skills through play.

She also offers phrase-building exercises in English for young learners, with more products in development.

Since launching her business, Ayman Peeroo has dedicated herself to creating fun, educational tools that foster early learning and parent-child connections.

A Positive Approach to Learning

Ayman Peeroo explains that her products are designed to help busy parents who struggle to find time to prepare activities for their children.

“Many parents want to create an screen-free environment for their kids, but that can be challenging.

Through learning activities, children can learn while playing. My goal is to promote a positive approach to learning and to foster a positive attitude towards education,” she said.

Her focus is on creating joyful moments and building strong bonds between parents and children.

For her, these interactions are opportunities for shared exploration and development. Chickadee Creative Studio aims to make learning an enriching adventure for both parents and kids.

The idea for her business came during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Chickadee Creative Studio was officially founded in 2024, making it a small post-pandemic startup.

Ayman notes that during this period, consumers became more responsible in their purchasing.

Offering durable, long-lasting products helped the business grow, especially since her items are designed to withstand rough handling by children.

Ayman credits her daughter as her main inspiration. With her teaching background, she has always looked for new ways to entertain her child, which sparked her passion for creating educational toys and materials.

She highlighted that her reusable activity booklets and color sorting games are especially popular.

She shared her happiness when parents and grandparents choose meaningful gifts during holidays.

“There are many ways to connect through these games. Teaching your grandchildren the names of objects or playing color sorting can be fun and meaningful. It’s all about building that connection,” she said.

Aiming to Restart in 2025

To relaunch her business in 2025, Ayman Peeroo plans to use social media to increase visibility.

“We’re nearly halfway through the year, and there’s still so much to do—many ideas to bring to life and new products in development. I hope to finish the year with more offerings, more learning adventures, and stronger connections to build and explore,” she said.

Ayman also has hidden talents. A passionate person, she often uses her hands for crochet, clay modeling, macramé, writing, painting, and drawing.

“I’m always looking for the next project. I try everything, which helps me unleash my creativity. The goal is to create.”

She emphasized that locally-made products in Mauritius (“Made in Moris”) are essential for promoting the island and supporting entrepreneurs.

She believes more visibility is needed for local businesses. She also notes that customers support the local economy through their purchases.

“Buying products made in Moris is the most eco-friendly and cost-effective way to spend your money.”

Thanks to the internet and social media, she sees great opportunities for local brands in the global market.

She added that the “Made in Moris” certification makes products even more special.

This year, Ayman wants to focus more on creating educational products for children.

Currently, most of her items cater to newborns and toddlers aged 1 to 3, with some phrase-building exercises for children aged 5 to 7. She plans to develop more products for different age groups.

All her products are laminated, allowing them to be reused endlessly. They are durable and can be passed down from generation to generation. Reusable activity books are especially popular, as parents prefer to keep them.

Her hope is that every child approaches learning with curiosity, creativity, and joy. She wants that spark of creativity to shine in their eyes for as long as possible.

Ultimately, she dreams of opening a fun, educational space for children and welcoming other creators who share her vision of a positive approach to learning.
