Gusts, High Waves & Temperatures Down by 2°C Expected for Mauritius

A weather warning is in effect in Mauritius until 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025, due to high waves and strong winds.The sea will be very rough, with waves coming from the southwest that could reach up to 4 meters. Coastal areas, especially in the west and south, may experience surging waves during high tides.

The Meteorological Station issued this alert on Saturday, 7th June. Authorities advise fishermen, boaters, and the public to avoid going to sea or venturing onto beaches.

The weather is influenced by a frontal system followed by a strong anticyclone.

Winds are blowing from the east-southeast at around 25 km/h and will strengthen during the day, with gusts reaching up to 70 km/h.

People should exercise caution, especially when working at heights or on exposed roads affected by crosswinds.

Forecast for the next 24 hours:

  • It will be mostly cloudy this morning and early afternoon with intermittent rain.
  • Some fog patches are expected in certain areas.
  • Weather conditions will gradually improve later in the day.

Temperatures:

  • Maximum temperatures will range from 19°C to 21°C on the central plateau and from 23°C to 26°C along the coast.
  • Temperatures are expected to be about 2 to 3 degrees below normal.
  • Minimum temperatures overnight will be between 15°C and 17°C on the central plateau and between 19°C and 21°C in coastal regions.

Cloud cover will be partial, with light showers in the highlands.
