Dawood Rawat: “A Crime Has Been Committed Against My Family”
Determined to seek justice, Dawood Rawat, the former Chairman Emeritus of the ex-BAI Group, has filed a complaint with the Central Criminal Investigation Department (CCID), accompanied by his lawyer, Me Rishi Hardowar.
This action comes ten years after the controversial revocation of the license of the former Bramer Bank, which Rawat claims was part of a conspiracy that led to the bank’s downfall and the consequent collapse of the BAI group.
Rawat disputed the legitimacy of the bank’s license revocation, asserting that he has provided the police with all necessary documents to clarify the circumstances surrounding this decision, which he views as unjust and premeditated.
“A crime has been committed against my family and my children. Those responsible cannot think they will go unpunished,” he told the media.
According to Dawood Rawat, the collapse of Bramer Bank was not a normal financial event but rather the result of a deliberate ploy.
Now, he is placing all his hopes in the Mauritian justice system:
“I am waiting for justice, only justice. Those who did what they did must pay.”
Dawood Rawat did not reveal the names of individuals mentionned in his statement.
“They might try to flee the country,” he said.
This is not the first legal action initiated by the businessman since returning to Mauritius in 2024.
