Starting June 2, Schools Open for Grade 1 Registration

Today, June 2nd marks the start of Grade 1 admissions for the 2026 school year. Parents wishing to enroll their children in public schools must begin the process now. The registration is for children who will turn five years old between January 1 and December 31, 2025.

Registrations will take place directly at the school where parents want to enroll their child. The process is organized by the first letter of the family name:

  • Families with last names starting with A to D should come on June 2, 3, or 4 (Monday to Wednesday).
  • Those with last names starting with E to L are scheduled for June 5, 6, or 9 (Thursday, Friday, or Monday).
  • Last names beginning with M to Z should come on June 10, 11, or 12 (Tuesday to Thursday).

Registrations will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Parents are asked to submit only one application—either to a government school or a subsidized school—based on their residence. They must bring the following documents:

  • Original and photocopy of their national ID card
  • Original and photocopy of the child’s birth certificate
  • Original bills from the Central Electricity Board and Central Water Authority for February, March, and April 2025, showing their current address

Additionally, parents living in the catchment area of one of the 34 high-demand schools need to get a Proof of Residency form from the school, fill it out, and have it certified by the local police station. This form must be submitted along with the other required documents.
