Air Mauritius and Air India Expand Codeshare to 17 Routes

Air India and Air Mauritius have strengthened their partnership to provide better travel options between India, Mauritius, and countries across Southern Africa. The expanded codeshare agreement now covers 17 routes, enhancing connections between India and destinations such as South Africa, Réunion, and Madagascar through Mauritius.

Announced on June 2, 2025, in Gurugram, this collaboration aims to make travel more convenient and accessible for passengers flying across these regions.

.This move aims to give travelers better access to destinations across India and Africa.

The two airlines signed the expanded agreement during the 81st IATA Annual General Meeting in New Delhi.

Present were Campbell Wilson, CEO of Air India, and Kishore Beegoo, Chairman of Air Mauritius.

Under the new deal, both airlines will put their codes on 17 routes connecting India, Mauritius, Réunion, South Africa, and Madagascar.

This is allowing passengers to book flights on both airlines with a single ticket and check baggage through to their final destination.

Specifically, Air India will add its ‘AI’ code to Air Mauritius flights to Cape Town and Johannesburg in South Africa, as well as Antananarivo in Madagascar.

This is making it easier for travelers to fly directly to these cities via Mauritius.

Previously, Air India already codeshared on Air Mauritius flights between Mauritius and Mumbai, Delhi, and Réunion.

Similarly, Air Mauritius will add its ‘MK’ code to Air India flights between Mumbai and other Indian cities such as Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Goa, and back to Delhi and Bengaluru.

Additionally, it will place its code on Air India flights connecting Mauritius to Mumbai.

With these arrangements, flights operated by either airline between India, Mauritius, and neighboring countries will carry both airline codes.

This increases flight options and convenience for passengers.

Campbell Wilson of Air India said, “India is a major source of tourists and trade for Southern Africa, including Mauritius and South Africa. This expanded partnership with Air Mauritius helps us connect our customers more easily to these destinations as part of our growing global network.”

Kishore Beegoo of Air Mauritius added, “We’re happy to enhance our partnership with Air India. Travelers from India can now enjoy smoother connections to Mauritius, Réunion, South Africa, and Madagascar via Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai. Visitors to Mauritius will experience our rich culture and cuisine, and benefit from easier travel options beyond Mauritius.”

The new codeshare flights will be available for booking starting July 1, 2025, through both airlines’ websites and travel agents.
