Rs 253 Million Cannabis Seized from 8 Passengers at Plaisance Airport

On Thursday, May 29, a large quantity of cannabis was confiscated at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport in Plaisance. Customs officers from the Anti-Narcotics Section and the airport’s anti-drug unit conducted checks on eight travelers arriving from Portugal, England, and other countries.

During the search, authorities found and seized a total of 210.7 kilograms of compressed cannabis packed in plastic bags.

The drugs were hidden inside the luggage of the eight passengers. The estimated street value of the seized cannabis is Rs 252.8 million.

The 8 suspects were arrested on the spot by officers led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Goinden and Chief Inspector Doss from the airport’s Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit.
