34-Year-Old Malagasy Man Dies in Quad Crash

A Malagasy man died in a quad bike accident on Sunday, May 25, 2025, in Petit-Verger, in the north of the island. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. along the road near the Wastewater Management Authority facilities.
According to initial police reports, Randrianarivoniaina James Robertho, 34, was found dead in the bushes about four meters from an unpaved path. His damaged quad bike was stuck against a nearby tree.
The victim, originally from Madagascar, was living in a dormitory in the area and was employed by Chettiar Enterprise.
He arrived in Mauritius on January 1, 2025, and was scheduled to leave in September.
A police officer was the first to discover the body. Emergency services, including SAMU, arrived at the scene but could only confirm his death.
The body was taken to the forensic medicine center for an autopsy, following orders from Chief Police Medical Officer Dr. Gungadin.
At this stage, authorities do not suspect foul play. The quad bike has been seized for technical examination.
The Scene of Crime Office, along with police photographers, a sketch artist, and investigators from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), have been mobilized to gather evidence and document the scene.
Police continue their investigation to determine the exact cause of the fatal accident.
