Rohit Ramnawaz’s appointment as chairman of the board of the State Bank of Mauritius Holdings Ltd (SBMH) was brief, as he was appointed on April 14 and has now been succeeded by Anil Kumar Ujoodha.

Ujoodha, a lawyer and former Senior Magistrate, previously led the Independent Commission against Corruption, later renamed the Financial Crimes Commission, from May 2006 to December 2014. His contract was later terminated by the previous government.

Meanwhile, Rohit Ramnawaz will bring his expertise to the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA), where he will succeed Sudhamo Lal, who recently retired.

Ramnawaz holds a law degree from the University of Huddersfield and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

With over 35 years of experience in banking, finance, taxation, and global business, he has also contributed as an independent correspondent for The Economist Intelligence Unit and served on the board of SBM Bank (Mauritius) Ltd from 2006 to 2014.
