Rs114 M Seizure Case: Pravind Jugnauth Seeks Changes to Probation Conditions
Former Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth has requested modifications to the conditions of his bail. His lawyers, Me Raouf Gulbul and Me Ravi Yerrigadoo, submitted the request to the Pamplemousses District Court on Thursday, May 22.
Pravind Jugnauth must return to the Pamplemousses District Court next Wednesday 28th May for a new hearing, Me Yerrigadoo confirmed. The case was postponed because the Financial Crimes Commission was not present.
Jugnauth was arrested in February 2025 after authorities seized Rs114 million in foreign currency from Joosian Deelawon.
He is facing a provisional charge of money laundering. The arrest was made by the Financial Crimes Commission, but he was later released on bail.
The investigation focuses on a suspected money laundering case involving large sums of money and documents found at Oomah Chandradeo’s residence.
During the inquiry, Chandradeo implicated Josian Laval Deelawon, who then accused Jugnauth.
Deelawon claimed that Jugnauth told him a woman named Devianee Ramchurn would deliver suitcases for safekeeping.
