Gastro-enteritis Cases Reach Over 1,400 in 1 Week

More than 1,400 cases of gastro-enteritis were reported in hospitals between May 12 and May 18, according to Dr. Fazil Khodabocus, interim director of health services. This is an increase compared to the same period last year, when about 1,000 cases were recorded.
The rise in cases is linked to contamination of several water sources, raising the risk of further spread.
Health officials are urging the public to stay cautious by following these safety measures:
- Boil water before drinking
- Wash hands often with soap and water
- Eat freshly prepared food
- Thoroughly wash fruits and vegetables before eating
Prompt medical attention is urged to prevent further spread of gastro-enteritis.
