Chagos Treaty Postponed After Court Order, Case Rescheduled

The signing of the treaty over the Chagos Islands between Mauritius and the United Kingdom was halted after a court injunction issued at 2:25 a.m. this Thursday 22nd May.

The High Court in London issued the order, which is 6:25 a.m. Mauritian time. The injunction was filed by a Chagos native.

The case is scheduled to be heard later today, 22nd May, starting at 2:25 p.m. Mauritian time.

Meanwhile, the virtual signing ceremony between London and Port-Louis has been suspended.
