Emtel, one of Mauritius’ leading telecom operators, has announced solid quarterly financial results for the period ending March 31, 2025. The company’s net revenue reached Rs 886 million, up 11.6% from the same quarter last year. This growth was driven by increased mobile data usage, expanded home internet services, and the rising popularity of Fintech and B2B services.

The company’s EBITDA rose by 16.7% to Rs 481 million, while pre-tax profit increased from Rs 144 million to Rs 182 million, a 26.4% jump.

Emtel has also made significant investments this year, particularly in deploying 5G technology, aiming to cover nearly 90% of the Mauritian population.

The company has also secured strategic licenses to support its growth plans. CEO Kresh Goomany highlighted that Emtel’s strategy combines operational performance with technological innovation.

On the financial front, Emtel completed the sale of a 25.14% stake in MC Vision Ltd to Canal+ International on April 30.

The company is also set to sell the remaining 22.5% stake to Currimjee Jeewanjee & Co Ltd, a transaction expected to generate Rs 1.35 billion in cash in the second half of the year.

In line with its shareholder value policy, Emtel’s board approved an interim dividend of Rs 0.77 per share, totaling Rs 350.7 million.

Shares will carry the dividend rights until June 2, 2025, and will go ex-dividend starting June 3. The dividend payment is scheduled for mid-June 2025.

With these results and dividend payout, Emtel reaffirms its growth trajectory and commitment to investors while actively preparing for the future.
