Nad Sivaramen, the Director of Publications at La Sentinelle Ltée, found himself summoned as a witness by the Anti-Money Laundering Unit of the Central CID on Friday, 16th May. Accompanied by his legal counsel, Me Michel Ahnee, Sivaramen’s testimony is pivotal in the ongoing investigation into alleged financial improprieties surrounding the disbursement of a staggering Rs 45 million by the Mauritius Investment Corporation (MIC) to Menlo Park Ltd, also known as Pulse Analytics.

This controversial funding, granted on 10th November 2024—just a day before the last general elections—has raised eyebrows, particularly as it followed a series of electoral surveys conducted by the company.

The implications of this financial transaction have sent shockwaves through the political landscape, leading to the arrest of 5 individuals thus far.

Among those detained are prominent figures, including the former Minister of Finance, Renagenaden Padayachy, the ex-Governor of the Bank of Mauritius, Harvesh Seegolam, and the former CEO of the MIC, Jitendra Bissessur, alongside the two directors of Menlo Park Ltd.

As the investigation unfolds, the stakes continue to rise, with the potential for further revelations that could shake Mauritius’ political and financial institutions.
