A 64-year-old German tourist was found dead in Blue Bay lagoon on the afternoon of May 15th. Officers from the National Coast Guard recovered his body from the water after a rescue effort. It appears he drowned beneath the calm surface of the lagoon.
Emergency services quickly took him to Mahébourg Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.
An autopsy later that evening by Dr. Prem Chamane showed that the cause was asphyxiation due to drowning.
