Corexsolar Launches 10 MW Photovoltaic Power Plant in Plaine-des-Roches
In an important stride towards sustainable energy, Corexsolar International has officially inaugurated a 10 MWac photovoltaic power plant in the picturesque Plaine-des-Roches. The announcement, made on Thursday, 8th May, revealed that the company has secured the coveted Commercial Operation Certificate from the Central Electricity Board (CEB) for its ambitious Green Rock Ltd project.
This state-of-the-art facility has been operational since 1st April, boasting an installed capacity of 10 MWac.
It is seamlessly connected to the CEB’s Amaury substation via a 22 kV line stretching over 4.5 kilometres.
The plant is a marvel of engineering, comprising 20,328 bifacial solar panels mounted on fixed structures across a sprawling 12 hectares.
It is projected to generate an impressive average of 17,000 MWh of electricity annually, a figure that meets the energy needs of approximately 23,000 residents.
The Green Rock Ltd project represents a substantial investment exceeding Rs 337 million, and has engaged over 150 individuals, including skilled engineers and technicians, in its development.
Environmentally, this initiative is poised to make a significant impact, with an anticipated reduction of up to 16,983 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.
This latest addition to Corexsolar International’s portfolio further cements its commitment to renewable energy in Mauritius and Rodrigues, following its establishment on the island in 2016.
The Green Rock Ltd photovoltaic farm stands as a beacon of hope, illuminating the path towards a greener, more sustainable future.
