A Gloomy Weather Awaits, Gusts Reaching 70 km/h

As residents brace themselves for the day ahead, the skies are shrouded in a blanket of clouds, remnants of a frontal system that continues to cast its shadow over our local weather. The anticyclone, stationed to the south of the Mascarenes, is generating a moderate airflow across our region, as reported by the meteorological station on this Wednesday, 7th May 2025.
Forecast reveals a partially overcast sky, punctuated by intermittent showers, predominantly affecting the southern, eastern, and central plateau areas.
These downpours may, at times, be of a locally moderate intensity.
Additionally, pockets of fog are anticipated in certain regions, which could significantly impair visibility.
Temperature readings are expected to fluctuate between 23 and 25 °C across the central plateau, while coastal areas will experience slightly warmer conditions, ranging from 27 to 30 °C.
The minimum temperatures will hover between 19 and 21 °C in the elevated regions, and between 23 and 25 °C along the shoreline.
The winds will be blowing from the southeast at a brisk pace of 25 to 35 km/h, with gusts potentially reaching a formidable 70 km/h in certain locales.
Caution is strongly advised, particularly during high-altitude manoeuvres and on roads exposed to crosswinds.
The sea will be tumultuous beyond the reefs, with swells from the southwest reaching heights of approximately 3.5 metres.
Consequently, venturing out to sea, as well as in the lagoons of the South-West, South, and East, is strongly discouraged.
With this challenging weather, it is advised to remain vigilant and prioritise safety in all endeavours.
