IOS SAGAR Strengthens Indo-Mauritian Ties During Port Call in Mauritius

In a solemn reaffirmation of the enduring ties that bind India and Mauritius, the Indian naval vessel IOS SAGAR made a noteworthy port call at Port Louis from 26 to 28 April 2025, as part of its operational deployment in the Indian Ocean. This visit not only underscored the commitment to maritime collaboration but also served as a platform for cultural exchange and mutual understanding.

Commanding Presence at the Helm: Leaders Unite for Shared Maritime Security
During her stay in the vibrant harbour, the ship’s Commanding Officer engaged in a significant meeting with the Commandant of the Mauritius Coast Guard, a gesture that reinforced the dedication to enhancing cooperation between the two maritime forces.
A select group of personnel from the multinational crew took the opportunity to visit several pivotal training facilities of the Mauritius Police Force (MPF), including the Special Mobile Force Squadron, Maritime Air Squadron, Coast Guard Training School, and the Police Helicopter Squadron.
These interactions fostered a rich exchange of knowledge and experience, focusing on areas of shared interest in maritime security.

Harmony in Motion: Yoga and Sport Weave a Tapestry of Camaraderie
In a delightful display of camaraderie, an invigorating joint yoga session was organised aboard IOS SAGAR, drawing participation from both the multinational crew and MPF personnel, with the Commandant of the National Coast Guard also gracing the event with his presence.
The spirit of friendly competition was further exemplified through a volleyball match between the crew of IOS SAGAR and the MPF, highlighting the bonds forged through shared activities.

From Signal Mountain to New Horizons: A Voyage of Vigilance and Goodwill
The ship opened its decks to a warm welcome for visitors, including members of the MPF, the Indian diaspora, and other enthusiastic groups.
Guests were treated to a comprehensive tour of the vessel, gaining insights into her operational capabilities, navigation systems, and the daily life onboard.
Additionally, a trek to the iconic Signal Mountain was organised for the ship’s crew, including the multinational personnel, offering a chance to appreciate the breathtaking beauty of Mauritius.
As IOS SAGAR prepared to depart from Port Louis, it was set to embark on a joint Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) surveillance mission alongside the Mauritius Coast Guard.
Following this crucial operation, the ship will continue its journey to its next port of call, Port Victoria in Seychelles, steadfast in its mission to bolster maritime security, foster regional cooperation, and promote goodwill throughout the Indian Ocean Region.
