Tragedy Strikes in Chamarel: 2 Killed & 3 Injured in Lorry Crash

A harrowing road accident unfolded in Chamarel on the morning of Friday, 25th April, as a lorry, descending from Plaine Champagne towards Tamarin, veered off course and plummeted into a ravine deemed “quite deep.” The vehicle was carrying five individuals at the time of the incident.

According to Assistant Superintendent Mathar, the grim toll of this calamity has been confirmed with two fatalities, while three other passengers have sustained serious injuries.

These injured individuals were swiftly transported to hospital for urgent medical attention.

Emergency services, including firefighters, the SAMU, and police units, have been deployed to the scene, working tirelessly amidst the chaos.

It is noteworthy that all five occupants of the lorry are foreign nationals, as revealed by police officials.

Assistant Superintendent Mathar further indicated that the recovery operations for the lorry are expected to be complex, necessitating significant logistical support.
