The Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) has successfully obtained a Supreme Court order to seize the luxury speedboat, the White Bird, valued at a staggering Rs 7.5 million. This vessel, which was sold to John Cédric Flore for a mere Rs 2 million, is now at the centre of a burgeoning money laundering investigation allegedly orchestrated for the benefit of one Jean Hubert Célérine, infamously known as Franklin.

The FCC has raised serious concerns regarding the true value of the White Bird, asserting that despite the official documentation stating a sale price of Rs 2 million, the boat is, in fact, worth nearly four times that amount.

The acquisition, which dates back to February 2023, is believed to have been executed through a proxy, John Cédric Flore, who is alleged to have acted on behalf of Franklin.

As the investigation unfolds, two additional individuals have emerged as suspected proxies: 35-year-old Rikesh Sumboo and 37-year-old Sanydeo Soomer.

Rikesh Sumboo is reported to have registered a villa in La Gaulette, valued at over Rs 25 million, ostensibly for Franklin.

Meanwhile, Sanydeo Soomer is under suspicion for having registered multiple properties in his name, although the FCC contends that Franklin is the true beneficiary of these assets.

The White Bird, which appeared to have been deliberately undervalued at the time of sale, will now fall under the jurisdiction of the Asset Recovery Management Division.

This unit is tasked with conducting a fresh valuation of the asset prior to its eventual resale, as the FCC continues its relentless pursuit of justice in this intricate web of financial deceit.
